- The ceremony will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2008 in the Patriot Center on the Fairfax campus.
- Family and friends: the Patriot Center doors will open at 12:30 p.m. for general seating.
- Tickets are NOT required for convocation.

- All graduating students must be in Patriot Center Parking Lot A by 12:30 p.m
- On Thursday May 15, all graduating students must be in Patriot Center Parking Lot A by 12:30 p.m. [MAP]
- Be dressed in your cap and gown.
- In Lot A, you will line up with the faculty marshal assigned to your degree program.
- You will process into the Patriot Center led by your faculty marshal.
- Turn your cell phone to vibrate before entering the Patriot Center.
- You will be individually recognized and your name will be announced as you walk across the stage.
- The ceremony will last about two hours. Out of respect for all participants you are required to stay for the entire ceremony.
- There will be a recessional following the ceremony and you, your family, and your friends are invited to attend your academic program’s reception.
- Caps and gowns are required for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences convocation ceremony as well as for the university commencement on May 17, 2008. Bachelor's candidates may purchase caps and gowns at the University Bookstore.
- You will not be able to purchase a cap and gown by visiting the university bookstore web site, you must go in person and fill out a form. Please do this as soon as possible to avoid rush shipping charges.
